Gymboree

Isabella Goes to Gymboree

I had heard of Gymboree before and wanted to take Isabella to it. Gymboree is like a big padded playground for kids. They sing songs and play for about 45 minutes a session with other kids. We decided to check out what the playgroup has to offer. So we took Isabella to her preview session to see if she liked it. I think she really enjoyed it.

Isabella made new friend right away. The little girls name was Isabelle. They hugged eachother at the beginning of the day. Later in the session Isabelle ran after Isabella and yanked her by the hair. Isabella just looked at her like " what are you doing?" She didn't cry or fight, she just kind of stared at her. She needs to experience that kind of thing with other kids, but it's just sometimes hard to let that kind of thing happen. But Isabella handled it with flying colors. She just moved on to whatever she was playing with.

In playgroup, they rolled balls and threw them through tires. Isabella was more interested in gathering them and putting them in a pile. So she walked around the room and searched for all of the balls she could find. Then she made them into a pile. Then she discovered the hoops. These she also had to gather and made into a pile as well. This is a typical behavior for kids her age. It was funny to watch. We though at any moment some kid is going to come up and take from her pile. None of them actually did take from her pile, so we didn't get to see how she would react to that one.

Isabella loves bubbles. They blew some bubbles and Isabella just loved trying to get them. She tried to touch them with one finger. There is a picture of her with a single bubble stuck to the end of her finger. We also bounced and played a game on a giant inflated tube. She liked hitting the inflated tube.

I think Isabella really enjoyed her experience. After the session we talked to the teacher and found out how grossly expensive it is. Too bad, because I think she really would have enjoyed doing that on a regular basis. Here are some pictures of the day.
